How to optimize Windows 11 for gaming to increase FPS & performance?

Windows 11 will run next-level technology for gaming purposes. Windows 11 has inherited new gaming technologies like Auto HDR and DirectStorage on compatible hardware from the last ninth-generation video game console, Xbox Series X | S. However, you can still optimize the recently released Windows 11 for gaming purposes to increase FPS and performance. If you are also looking for a guide to optimize Windows 11 for gaming, then you have come to the right place at the right time.

Before we start optimizing everything properly, there are a few things we should do. The most important thing is to make sure that windows is as up-to-date as possible. Since I'm running an internal build of Windows 11. Will be updated very often.

In addition, Continuous Updates is optimized for any type of program. Especially for operational services. It will also speed up Windows 11.

So this is something you will do quite often especially if you are an early user of Windows 11. Otherwise you should still check for windows updates at any future stage.

1. Click the Start > Settings icon. And then go to Windows update at the bottom. Now click on the Check for updates button and wait for it to complete. If any updates are found, make sure to install them and then restart your computer. And back to this post.

Method 1. Enable Game Mode in Windows 11

With the brand new Settings app in Windows 11, there's a dedicated Games tab. Windows 11 has a brand new Settings app, and here's how to use Game Mode in this new system.

1. Click the Windows icon from the taskbar and then click Settings.

2. From the left sidebar, go to Game > Game Mode.

3. Enable the Game Mode option.

Method 2. Use per-app GPU selection settings
If your device is a gaming laptop, there are two GPUs - iGPU (integrated GPU) and dGPU (dedicated GPU). You can decide which applications use which GPU. To select your CPU, follow the steps below.

1. Click the Start Menu icon and go to Settings > Game > Game Mode.

2. In related Settings, click Graphics.

3. On the Graphics Performance page, you can select the GPU for your application and add a new application to the list.

By default, Windows automatically assigns a GPU to each application. However, you can change it manually.

4. The Power Saving option will be allocated to applications that do not require graphics performance and the High Performance option to GPU-focused games and applications.
Method 3. Optimize the game by Enabling High Performance
Another way to optimize Windows 11 for gaming is to change the power setting to High Performance mode.

1. Open your search bar and enter power plan.

2. Click Edit Package Settings and select Power Options at the top.

3. Select High Performance in this window.
4. If I tell you that there’s something better than High performance that you can add here that’s hidden away in windows.
Just open the command prompt in administrator mode. Then copy and paste the below comment. Hit Enter.
powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61
5. After it is completed, go to the power settings and refresh the window. It will add an extra feature called Ultimate performance in power settings.
6. Select this for the best possible performance. It will realy help you to speed up Windows 11 performance. You can also customize it. Click on the Change plan settings and change the turn-off display or anything as you wish.
Method 4.Optimize Windows Boot/Start Times
1. Need to open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc. Then inside it, go through the Startup tab at the top.
Initially, everything was turned on. It means that when we start our computer, every software on this list will be started before we can use our computer properly. This can cause the computer to be severely slow to boot and, of course, increase the time it takes to fully boot.
2. You should right click on the software you don't want, start from your computer and then click turn off. This is one of the important steps to optimize and speed up Windows 11.

Method 4.Clean Local Disk C Drive In Windows 11

Cleaning up C drive often helps you free up more disk space than you may expect.

Here are steps you need to follow for getting rid of junk in C drive.

Disk cleanup

This is a lite cleanup utility to delete common type of temporary files.

1. Select the Start button, type disk cleanup, then select Disk Cleanup from the list of results..

2. When you’re done selecting the types of files to delete, select OK, and then select Delete files in the confirmation window to start the cleanup process

This clean up process takes only a few seconds to complete.

Clean up system files

1. Select the Start button, type disk cleanup, then select Disk Cleanup from the list of results..

2. Click on Disk cleanup and then on next dialog box press Clean up system files button.

3. Select the items you want to remove and press Ok button and then press Delete files button.

This deletion process may take a while to complete, so wait with it.

Clean Up Temp files

1. Go back to your desktop first. Now go to your Start button and right-click on it. Now you will see this hidden menu. Choose to Run from here. Now enter %temp% and click on Ok.

2. Now, you can see all these files and folders. These files are not important, and they are automatically created and downloaded from the internet only for a temporary purpose.

3. So you need to select all of them and Press Shift+delete keys on your keyboard > Click on Yes to continue. Some files may be undeletable, so ignore them and delete the rest.

4. Now let’s delete all of the files from the recycle bin as well.

Let’s look at your C drive. That’s all you can do to clean up your C drive to speed up Windows 11. I hope you are all experiencing a performance boost on Windows 11. Free up space and a more enhanced system responsiveness.

Third party disk cleaners

There are a lot of third party disk cleaner utility software that clean up a lot of disk space with just a few clicks. But most of them either cost you money.

And if you are out of luck, such cleaner apps may delete important files and drivers, considering them unwanted files.

Therefore, don’t use any cleaner app unless you trust the software.

Method 5.Defragmenting & Optimizing/Trimming

Especially if you’re only using hard disks in your computer, it is defragging.

1. Click on Start and then type in defrag. We’ll be opening up defragment and optimize drives.

Inside of here, you’ll see all of your hard drives listed and, of course, your SSD’s if you’re someone like me with lots of drives in your computer. You’ll likely see something similar to this picture.

2. Simply click on any one of the Drivers > click on Optimize. Wait for it to finish. And then you should be done after you’ve cycled through all of the different hard drives and SSD’s on your computer.

Method 6. Use Auto HDR

1. Open the Start menu and go to Settings > System > Display

2. Make sure the Use HDR toggle is on, then scroll down and enable Auto HDR. (Note: If Use HDR and Auto HDR are grayed out or missing, then your monitor does not support HDR.)

As mentioned above, make the colors of a game more vibrant on HDR-supported displays. You can spot the difference between SDR and HDR if you have an HDR-supported monitor. If you don't have such a monitor, purchase one.

Method 7. Use Dedicated Software for NVIDIA and AMD GPUs

If you are playing games on a laptop with an NVIDIA or AMD GPU, you can download NVIDIA's GeForce Experience and AMD's Radeon Software. With it, you can tweak the graphics settings per game and adjust GPU performance.

You have to improve FPS in basically any game or even productivity task you execute. These optimizations method can help in many spots, not only gaming for a couple of additional FPS, higher stability, and higher strength. It will speed up Windows 11 PC.
