How to Show Details Pane in File Explorer of Windows 11/10

Windows File Explorer is a file browser used to navigate and manage drivers, folders, and files on your computer, Windows File Explorer is present in all versions of Microsoft Windows since Windows 95. Near Recently Microsoft updated the file explorer with new features like drag and drop, better right-click support, Preview Pane, improved copy-paste system, and new file explorer search. And windows 10 allows you to enable different panes in File Explorer, these include the Preview Pane, the Navigation Pane, and the Details Pane. This improves the user experience. In this article, we will see how to enable the Details pane in File Explorer using different methods.

A. Using a hotkey

This is the fastest and easiest option to show the Details pane in File Explorer. 

1. Open File Explorer using Windows Keys + E

2. Press Alt+Shift+P.

This will instantly open the Details pane. Press the same hotkey again to hide the Details pane in File Explorer.

B. Using View Menu in File Explorer:

Windows 11

File Explorer for Windows 11 is a significant change from Windows 10. If you check through the View tab, suddenly all the menus are gone and the expanded options have been concentrated into a short list. .

1. Open the File Explorer window. And click on the View Tab.

2. Select Show from the menu.

3. Now, from the submenu, check the box associated with the Details pane.

Windows 10

1. Open File Explorer by pressing Windows Keys + E and click on the View Tab.

2. Under View Menu, click on the Details Pane.

This will bring up the Details pane on the right side of File Explorer. Use the same option to hide the Details pane at any time.

C. Enable Details pane Using Registry Editor

1. Open the Run command by pressing Windows Keys + R and type Regedit and hit enter. This command will open Registry Editor.

2. Now Navigate to the following path.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Modules\GlobalSettings

3. Once you navigate to the following path from the left-hand side expand the GlobalSettings registry key and look for DetailsContainer Registry key (If it’s not there create it) click on it and from the right-hand side look for DetailsContainer Binary Value.

4. If you are not able to see the Binary Value, then right-click and choose New > Binary Value and name it as DetailsContainer.

5. Next Double Click on the DetailsContainer Binary value and modify the value as mentioned below.

To Enable: 01 00 00 00 02 00 00 00

To Disable: 02 00 00 00 02 00 00 00

6. Next from the left-hand side click on the Sizer Registry key, if it’s not there then create it with the same name. And from the right-hand side look for DetailsContainerSizer Binary value.

7. Then right-click and choose New > Binary Value and name it as DetailsContainerSizer.

8. Next Double Click on the DetailsContainerSizer Binary value and modify the value as mentioned below.

To Enable: A4 01 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 84 04 00 00

To Disable: A4 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 84 04 00 00

9. Click on OK and Close the registry editor.

These values may vary depends on the Windows version, if you compare the values you can see the slight difference between Enable value and Disable value. Do the changes in the particular bit, if you have a different value.
