Something Happened or Something Went Wrong PIN Isn’t Available Set Up Your PIN Again Windows 10

Method 1. Reset your PIN

Note: This method only applies to users who use a Microsoft Account to sign in to their Windows 10 computer. If you are using a local account, go to method-3 below.

1. Make sure your PC is connected to the Internet.

2. In the login screen, click I forgot my PIN and follow the instructions to reset your PIN.

Note: If you don't see the I forgot my PIN option, click Sign-in Options and then the Key icon. Finally, enter your MS Account password to sign in to Windows.

Method 2. Sign in to your Microsoft Account from another device.

Note: This method only applies to users who use a Microsoft Account to sign in to their Windows 10 computer. If you are using a local account, go to method-3 below.

1. Make sure your PC is connected to the Internet.

2. From another PC or device (for example, your Phone or Tablet), sign in to your Microsoft Account *

Note: If you forgot your Microsoft account password, go ahead and Reset your Microsoft account password.

3. Restart your PC and re-enter the PIN to sign in on your PC. *

Note: If the PIN sign-in method fails again, click Sign-in Options and then the Key icon. Finally, enter your MS Account password to sign in to Windows.

4. After signing in to Windows, go to Start > Settings  > Accounts > Sign-in options

5. Select the Windows Hello PIN and click Remove.

6. After deleting the existing PIN, click the Add button to create a new PIN for your account.

Method 3. Sign in to Windows 10 with your Account Password.

The usual step, to solve the "PIN not available" problem in Windows 10, is to sign in to your PC with your account password. To do this:

1. In the login screen, click Sign-in options.

2. Now click on the Key icon.

3. Type your password and press Enter to log into Windows. *

Note: If you don't remember your password, continue to the next method.

4. After signing in to Windows, go to Start > Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.

5. Select the Windows Hello PIN and click Remove.

6. After deleting the existing PIN, click the Add button to create a new PIN for your account.

Method 4. Delete the NGC folder and add a new PIN

Note:Booting in Safe Mode
  1. Click the power button on the lockscreen and hold the Shift key down.
  2. Click Restart.
  3. Go to Troubleshoot and then Advanced Options.
  4. Find Startup settings.
  5. Choose restart.
  6. Select the Safe Mode option and sign in.
  7. Your computer will be booted into Safe Mode
Now proceed to delete the NGC Folder in safe mode
9. Press Win +E keys together on your keyboard to open the File Explorer. Just click on View and make sure hidden items option is checked.
10. Go to: C:\\Windows\\ServiceProfiles\\LocalService\\AppData\\Local\\Microsoft\\NGC.
11. Select the NGC folder and hit the Delete button on your keyboard. Now, exit the File Explorer, and restart computer and boot normally.
After that recreate your PIN code.
12. Go to Settings by pressing Win and I keys.
13. Go to the Accounts section.
15. Choose Sign-in options.
16. Select Windows Hello Pin button.
17. Enter the PIN.Click OK to save changes.

Method 5. Use the Administrator account and Reset the account's password.
Enable the Administrator account
  • Click Start and type command.in the Taskbar search field.
  • Click Run as Administrator.
  • Type net user administrator /active:no, and then press enter.
  • Wait for the process to finish.
  • The administrator account will no longer appear as an option when you start your computer.
1. Log in to the PC with the Administrator account.
2. Now according to your usual account type (LOCAL or MICROSOFT), follow the suggested action below:

A. If you are using LOCAL ACCOUNT to log in to your PC:

1. Press Win + R key simultaneously to open run command box and type
control userpasswords2
2. Select the locked user and click Reset Password.
3. Leave the password boxes (password blank) and press OK. *
Note: If you want to set a password, enter a new (different) password from the one you used before.
4. Log out of the Administrator account and log in with your normal account.
B. If you are using MICROSOFT ACCOUNT to log in to your PC:
1. Create a new LOCAL account (with administrative privileges). To do that:

4. Select Sign in without a Microsoft account (not recommended)
5. Select Local Account.
6. Enter a username and password (optional) and click Next to create a new account.
7. At the User Accounts window, select the new account and click Properties.

9. Now log out of Administrator account and Login to PC with new user account.
10. Finally, transfer all your files and settings from the locked MS account to the new local account.
