How to Remove Weather Widget from Taskbar in Windows 10

A. Disable News and Interests from Windows 10 Taskbar

1. Right click Windows 10 taskbar and click News and Interests.

2. Select Turn off to disable News and Interests from Windows 10 taskbar


B. Remove News and Interests via Registry Editor

1. Open Run dialog box by pressing Win + R on the keyboard. Type-in regedit and press OK open the Registry Editor on your PC.

2. Navigate to the following path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Feeds

3. Now, double-click on ShellFeedsTaskbarViewMode and set its Data value to 2.

4. Click on OK and restart your PC.

After you make the above changes, log off and login back. You should now notice that the News and Interest doesn’t show on the taskbar anymore.

There are three values that you can specify for ShellFeedsTaskbarViewMode and they are as follows.

  • 0 – Shows icon and text
  • 1 – Show only icon
  • 2 – Hide News and Interests

C. Remove News and Interests via Group Policy

1. Click to Start Menu Search and open the Group Policy Editor.

2. In the Local Group Policy Editor window, navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Component > News and interests.

3. Now, double-click on the Enable News and interests on the taskbar option and select Disable.

4. Apply the changes and restart your PC.

How to Remove Weather Widget from Taskbar in Windows 11

A. Using Widget Panel

1. First, open the Widget panel by pressing the Win + W on your keyboard.

2. In the widget panel, click on the three dots of the weather widget card.

3. Now, from the list, click on the Remove widget option.

B. Using Windows Settings

You can also use the Windows settings to remove the weather widget. Actually, Windows 11 comes with a feature to enable or disable the widgets of the taskbar completely. Disabling it also disables the Weather widget.

1. Press Windows Keys + I on your keybaord to open Windows Settings.

2. Go to Personalization > Taskbar.

3. Come under the Taskbar items option and switch off the toggle for Widgets to disable the live weather widget.

C. Using Command Prompt

1. Search for Command Prompt and run it as administrator.

2. Now, execute the command: winget uninstall “windows web experience pack” and press Y to confirm the execution.
